Happy Father’s Day
Today is Father’s Day… YAY! It’s a widely known fact that I’m a Daddy’s Girl. If you take a minute to look through the other posts on this blog, you’ll be able to see that easily. I dunno what it is, but my dad and I connect at a different level than my mom and I do. For the majority of my almost 18 years of living, my mom and I were the real-life replica of Freaky Friday. If you haven’t seen then movie, allow me to explain… My mom and I were at each other’s throats all the time. Two extremely hormonal women in one household isn’t good, especially when one is going through puberty and an attitude adjustment for the worst and the other won’t put up with the little teenager who thinks she owns the world. Yup, that sounds about right…
It’s really weird, but my dad and I talk about stuff that most people would feel extremely awkward talking to their dads about. Just the other night we had a conversation about periods. That’s the most awkward thing for me to talk about with my mom and I don’t even know why. Not that I don’t love my mom, but we just don’t sit at the same level of thinking as my dad and I do. Anyone that knows my dad can tell that he’s a kid in a grown-up body.
Maybe that’s it… Maybe we connect better because I can be immature around him. Haha, I really have no clue. I mean, we do things together to annoy my mom. For instance, we’ll be eating dinner all together at the table and my dad and I will start sticking our food out at each other behind my mom’s back. Then she ends up catching one of us in the act. I’m not gonna lie, it’s extremely funny. She’s just so easy to annoy, but she knows she loves us anyway.
Yesterday my mom and I were buying cards for my dad and I would pick up one card and go, “too cheesy” and I would pick up another and go, “not cheesy enough”… there’s something about my dad and I and being “right-in-the-middle” cheesy. We’re the type of cheesy when you send your significant other a Crush soda to say you love them. See?? It’s cheesy, but it’s not delectably cheesy. Too much cheese will make you constipated after all. But not enough is boring and bland.
Haha, in other words, for the people who don’t get this… I <3 my dad. :] Have a wonderful Father’s Day everybody. Toodles!

What a blessing having such a great relationship with your dad. That is definitely something to treasure. My guess is when you become a mom, your relationship with your mom will totally change :)
