I am so excited to announce that yesterday was the re-release of Jobromance Magazine! After hitting a bumpy patch back in 2007, the people in charge of the free, online magazine decided to take a break and rebuild. Back at the end of April a lot of admins on Jonas Brothers Fansites all across the globe were asked to write for the magazine. And I’m am so ecstatic to say that I wrote a story for it!

I’ve already read the whole thing and it’s so awesome. So, don’t go and just read my article, go read all the other articles, too. If you don’t like the Jonas Brothers, now is a good time to start. And if you don’t know the Jonas Brothers, this issue has more than enough info about the boys! It talks about their past, present, and upcoming tours, it showcases their philanthropy, and my article details the progress they’ve made since they started out in 2005! So many people put in so much work for this issue, so I hope that you check it out, tell me what you think, and then tell all of your friends to check it out as well!

Fansites that participated: NickJOnline.com, TNCIO on MySpace, Jiley Elite on MySpace, CampRockFan.com, Joe-Jonas.com, JonasFever.org, EverythingJonas.com, Jonas-Fans.com, JonasWeb.org, KevinJonasOnline.com, JonasHQ.org, Jonas-Pandemonium.com, JoBrosPone.com, and JBSource.fan-sites.org! Congrats to everyone on an amazing re-release first issue!

“For the fans, by the fans!” I hope you enjoy it! Toodles!

MySpace Act of the Week #1

May 29, 2008 at 11:25 pm (My Published Articles) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Last week I got recruited to write the MySpace Act of the Week article every other week for Portrait Magazine. Portrait Magazine is an online magazine that is geared toward teenagers around the world and what they want to read. As some of you know (or don’t know), a lot of kids today are really big into discovering bands that nobody has heard of before. So, one of my really godo friends I met through the internet started writing the weekly articles a couple of months ago, but since the end of school is here and she can’t handle the heavy work load and the articles, I asked if I could help her out.

Below is my first article and the link to the website if you wanna check it out there, too. Some of you may like the band, some of you may not, but this is oneof my favorite bands, so I thought it was only fair that I did my first article abotu them. :] Check it out and let me know what you think. BTW, 3 school days left!!! :D

[A Letter To You from left to right: Jay, Drew, Trevor, and Evan]

Myspace Band of the Week: A Letter To You!
www.myspace.com/alettertoyou

Sound is…
Alternative/Pop/Rock

Members are…
Drew, who supplies the fantastic vocals and guitar playing skills;
Jay, who lends a hand with his own electric guitar;
Trevor, who works his bass guitar and brings out the underlying rhythms of the music;
Evan, who provides a crazy, yet awesome, beat on his drums.

Hailing from East Lansing, Michigan, the members of A Letter To You realized that they wanted to play together as early as eighth grade. Their freshman year of high school put their musical abilities to the test as they formed the band and recruited Trevor as their bass guitar player during their sophomore year. When asked what they did to make it happen, the only response was that they “did it.” Now that the boys have formed a larger fan base from performing with big name bands, such as Jack’s Mannequin (Sire Records) and Hellogoodbye (Drive Thru Records), they set out to record their first EP with the help of fellow Michigan band Every Avenue (Fearless Records). The EP dropped on April 1, 2008 and the boys say “it’s gotten a very cool response.”

The Early November (Drive Thru Records), being the group’s favorite band, has influenced many of the choices they have made regarding their music. The boys think they have a truly unique sound about them, but if they had to compare themselves to other bands, they would have to choose the “obvious comparisons” of Cartel (Epic Records) and All Time Low (Hopeless/Subcity Records). However, they feel that over time, they are going to follow a path similar to that of The Early November or The Academy Is… (Fueled By Ramen). The boys also said that one of their favorite things is seeing themselves featured in the “listener’s also bought” section of many of their favorite band’s iTunes pages.

This summer the boys are looking forward to possibly performing at Warped Tour in Detroit. However, while they love performing for huge audiences, sometimes the best shows are for the smallest crowds. The boys said that while they were on tour with The Years Gone By (Rise Records), they performed in the small town of Defiance, Ohio and thought the kids there were awesome.

If anybody wants to know more about this new and exciting band, do not forget to stop by their MySpace page. Another recommendation is their FanSpace, www.myspace.com/officialaltyfans! It all started with one dedicated fan back in February 2008, since then she has gotten almost 2,000 friends on the FanSpace just by sending a request to each person that has ever left the band a comment on their MySpace page. She has also gained two co-owners that help her manage the FanSpace and the crazy fan load. Don’t wait another second.

Fans say…
“It’s honest stuff and it’s easy to dance along to and enjoy, they really know how to [work] a crowd. They get the [audience] pumped [up] and all the songs they have are just amazing.”

“[It's cool that] they’re all still teenagers. They’re still in high school, so it makes it easier to connect with them.”

“Many bands don’t [really listen] to what their fans [have to] say, these guys take to heart any advice they get.”

“It’s like double entertainment: Amazing music that [fans] can easily get into and random [stuff] that [does nothing but make fans laugh].”

Okay, so I know I kinda gave myself a little note in there with the FAnSpace, but whatev. It’s such an awesome way to get the word about about ALTY and I am so glad I could help them out. I can’t wait to see what kinda feedback the article gets! :] I hope your week is going great, happy weekend?? :P Toodles!

The Mystery of Cloverfield Revealed

February 1, 2008 at 10:51 pm (My Published Articles) (, , , )

“Reviews for Cloverfield have been all over the board, ranging from amazing to terrible. It seems as though this movie left many peope with mixed emotions. With the exception of the ending and lack of major plot, the move was very unique and beautifully created.

Anyone that went to see Transformers last summer saw the trailer for a movie with no title. It was a shaky, home video at what seemed to be a going-away party. The power went off in the room and there was a strange rumbling outside. The characters went out to the roof, trying to see what the problem was when there was a huge explosion.

Everyone started running around, trying to escape falling debris, the camera caught everything on film as the head of the Statue of Liberty came tumbling to the ground. Then, it was over, the only thing we knew about the movie was the producer was JJ Abrams and it would be in theatres 1-18-08.

Up until mere weeks before the release of the movie, many different names were speculated for the film. Cloverfield was one of the many rumored titles and was soon discovered to be not only the title of this creature feature, but also the name of the freeway exit and airport near Abrams’ Santa Barbara office.

The first person view through the camcorder made it more intense, more real. It also added the appeal that viewers could easily connect with, seeing it through the eyes of a character.

As the movie slowly unfolded, viewers were strategically shown parts of the monster that dominated the film. The viewers are exposed to legs, a tail and spider crab like creatures that fell off of the monster in torrents. These creatures would pursue the humans on foot and attack them. Their bite caused ghastly bleeding from numerous orifices and certain death. All this led up to the big unveiling of the monster’s true form near the end of the movie as the heroic characters try to flee the city.

The idea for the monster sprouted from a trip Abrams took with his son to Japan to promote his film Mission: Impossible III. They were in a toy store and saw many rows of Godzilla toys and Abrams decided that he wanted to create an American monster that was more terrifying than any other before.

Events in Cloverfield reference 9/11 with billows of smoke chasing after the people in the streets as the Empire State Building collapsed to the ground and the promotional poster for 1981’s Escape From New York with the head of the Statue of Liberty lying in the streets of Manhattan, even though it did not make it into the film itself.

Everyone can probably admit that the ending was far from what is desired for the characters, even though it is the most realistic way to end the film. Without giving too much away for people that have not seen the movie yet, the ending is what leaves viewers with mixed emotions. All in all, the movie was executed very nicely and grossed a whopping $51 million opening weekend worldwide, something that statistically does not happen with films that are released in January. January is said to be the “dumping ground for bad movies,” so many were shocked to see that the film brought in so much revenue at the box offices.

Even if someone has already ruined the entire plot of the movie, everyone should take the time to watch it for themselves. This movie is worth the money viewers spend to see it and it completely loses the ultimate effect without the big screen, booming bass, dark theatre and audience reactions to get the blood pumping. A little tip for people that go to see the film, stick around for the end of the credits and be on the look out for mysterious things throughout the movie.”

What’d you think?? You heard it first, now you’ve read it for yourself. Leave a comment letting me know what y’all think. I’ll be posting more of my newspaper articles as times progresses. :] Toodles!
