Why is it that every semester I don’t have enough money? Is it possible that ACU doesn’t know what they’re talking about when they say they’ll help you out? Is it possible the Financial Aid department are just a bunch of lying crocks? Hmm, sounds about right…

I still don’t have enough money to register for classes and if I don’t get that AND the rest of my account paid off before January I can’t come back. Who’d have thought that someone who’s trying her hardest to get through college would get a little assistance but no. Every open door I see slams in my face before I can walk through it. And while I’m skinny, trying to fit through the open windows isn’t highly advised… I’m relying on God to take care of this. Honestly, I am. I have to rely on him to take care of it since I obviously can’t on my own… Thanksgiving Break, you’re still too far away.

Up side? I’ll be ready to hit the road in about 25 1/2 hours and I can see my family and friends back home. Too bad I have to write a ten page paper and a 3 page paper over break… Who thought that was a smart idea? Oh yeah, I still go to ACU, why would I ask that? Apparently teachers and administrators don’t know how to give their students a break…

Mhmm, and I’m ashamed to say I really do suck at commitment, haha. I fear for the day I get married, honestly. I can’t be faithful to a simple blog and YouTube channel, that can’t be a good prediction for my future. :P So I was reading a friend’s blog and he decided to do a 100 days blogging challenge where he blogs every day for 100 days, he’s on day 12 and going strong. Now, I’m not going to do that by any means, but maybe since I know more people blogging now I’ll get back in the swing of things? I can’t promise anything though, as my last posts have been filled with a bunch of false hopes and empty promises. =/

In one of his posts he talks about an amazing game called Waterball and has some videos, so I went through my files to find a video of my Youth Group playing water ball back in Summer of 2008. It’s not nearly as intense as the videos he posted, but it’s still pretty good. :] If you don’t know what Waterball is, you should really come out from under the rock that’s sheltering you. It’s only one of THE best and, undoubtedly, most dangerous sports. Rugby doesn’t even come close to the thrill that is Waterball. I love playing it, but because I’m so small I tend to get hurt a lot so in this vid you’re about to see I’m the one filming, haha. (I cannot get the video to work in the actually blog, so you’ll have to click on the link, sorry!)

I cannot express how glad I am to be back in Abilene, to be back at school, to be with the boyfriend and my ACU Family out here once again. I’ve missed it all so much. I’m already overwhelmed with homwork and it’s only the end of the first week, but that’s okay, I’d prefer it this way as opposed to a super easy, waste of money! I hope everybody’s summers wrapped up well, mine sure did. I did a lot of shopping and had a lot of fun with my birthday. A lot of the plans I mention in the last post didn’t end up happening, so that was crappy, but it’s okay, now I’m making up for it. :P

Has it seriously been 9 months since I last updated? Oh, goodness! I don’t know what to blog about, but I felt I needed to since it had been so long. Since the last post I’ve gotten a new boyfriend, finished my first year of college, changed my major 3 times, got straight A’s for the first time since that one fluke back in 3rd grade, got on the DEAN’S LIST, and then did absolutely nothing for the past 2 and 1/2 months. =/

But I’m back and I’ll try my hardest to stick to my commitment to this blog. I feel bad, I’ve written a lot of good stuff in all my Facebook notes but I just failed to post them over here, as well. Should I go ahead and post those? For those of you that actually read this, however few there are, I’m curious, I have 2 or 3 really good posts on my Facebook that I could copy and paste over here if you’d like to read them. Just leave me a comment and let me know.

I hope you summers have been going well, the fun of my summer starts tomorrow! My boyfriend will be here from tomorrow (July 31) to next Wednesday (Aug. 5). Next Wednesday is also our 9 month anniversary so it’s one of those “3 month mile markers” so we’re probably gonna do something special before he leaves to go back home. During the time he’s here, on Saturday (Aug. 1), my family is having a Lake Day out at Lake Lewisville as a sort of family get together/birthday bash for moi, which the boyfriend and the bestie will go to with me. And then, not exactly sure on the specific dates yet, but I’m gonna say the following Sunday (Aug. 9) to that next Tuesday or Wednesday (Aug. 11/12) my best friend, Kaley, and I (and possibly our other friend from church, Mary) will be road trippin’ it to Carlsbad, New Mexico for a few days because we wanna get outta Texas for a while and I’ve never been to Carlsbad Caverns so I thought it would be a great idea. And then Aug. 12 and 13 are the peak days in the Perseid Meteor Shower, which if you’re not familiar with is one of the best meteor showers that happens every year. I’ve been trying to catch it for the last two years and haven’t so I’m hoping we’ll be able to go somewhere this year that isn’t strangled by city lights as much as the DFW metroplex is. Then I’ll start packing to go back to school, which I am so psyched about because I miss it a lot, along with all my friends! And Aug. 17 is my 19th birthday, which is very exciting, my last year of “adolescence,” haha. Whatevah! :P And then Aug. 22 I move back to Abilene for school and get to live in the SOPHOMORE DORM!!!! :D This year is gonna be awesome, I just know it. It’ll be tough, but I’m gonna kick some butt, haha.

Do any of you readers have any big, fun plans coming up you’d like to share? Lemme know about them, exciting news is always fun to hear. :D

Also, I’m curious about some peoples’ opinions… I’m currently attempting to read “Captivating” by John and Stasi Eldredge (John wrote “Wild At Heart”) and then I’m gonna try and break into “The Screwtape Letters” by C.S. Lewis. Do any of you readers wanna share your thoughts on these two books? I’ve heard a great deal about them, but I’d just like to here what some of you think. :]

To the dear readers of my blog… I’m terribly sorry I have been slacking on my writing. I have been told I should write something and I never got around to doing that, but last night I was at a party of sorts for Halloween with my U100 class at the instructor’s house and my friend told me to blog about it. So I’m going to… There probably won’t be any profound spiritual message in this blog, I’m just giving a little update on how I’m doing here in Abilene.

Actually, class is about to get out so I’ll resume this in about 15 minutes…….

So, my group carved Batman into the pumpkin. It was pretty legit, not gonna lie. :] I thought it was really cool because one group made the Joker so we took a picture of the two pumpkins next to each other. :P

I really like Halloween, it’s so much fun. I know the origin and the menaing behind to holiday goes against the things I believe, but I love dressing up and giving candy to people. And yes, I will be trick-or-treating this weekend. :D

So, tonight, Treadaway Kids are coming to trick-or-treat through Gardner and I’m way excited. I’ve never actually handed out the candy before and nobody ever comes by our house back home during Halloween. :P And then, tomorrow night there’s going to be a thing in West Lobby where there will be a bunch of Halloween activities and if you wear a costume you get free food. Too bad I couldn’t afford the constume I wanted or I would’ve gotten it.

I really wanted to blog today, but I didn’t wanna do the standard “About Me” post, I wanted to write a churchy post, I haven’t done that in a while and I think now is a good time to do so. I grabbed my Bible and as I was walking back to my desk I said, “I wonder what God’s gonna show me today.” Many of you who know me, know that the whole “open-the-Bible-and-find-a-great-verse” thing doesn’t really work for me. So, God, with his brilliant sense of humor, opened the pages to Ezekiel 39, in which it talks about God causing the nations to fall, etc. Then I tried it again and my pages fell open to Ecclesiastes 12:1.

“Remember your Creator
in the days of your youth,
before the days of trouble come
and the years approach when you will say,
‘I find no pleasure in them’” (NIV)

You can read the rest of the chapter for yourself, but this is the part I wanted to point out…

Lately, even though I’m on a very Christian campus around some very amazing, Godly people, I just haven’t been feeling too faithful to my religion. I keep questioning it and I keep telling myself how much easier it would be to just not be a Christian. I wouldn’t have to worry about making mistakes, I wouldn’t have to worry about if there’s really a Heaven or not, I wouldn’t have to worry about who are the people I should be surrounding myself with, I wouldn’t have to worry about if I’m a disappointment to my Father (and I don’t mean my Dad back home), I wouldn’t have to worry about being a bad example to someone else, I wouldn’t have to worry about a lot of things… I don’t know what to do about this immense loneliness I feel even though I’m supposed to be immersed in God’s love here. And lately I’ve been thinking about how much I miss my home church and how much I miss having a boyfriend, don’t mistake that for missing Daniel as a boyfriend I love him like a best friend, but our relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend took too many turns down the wrong street. I miss not having a guy to reassure me when I’m down, I miss being able to cuddle in someone’s arms when I’ve had a bad day, I miss hqaving someone call me and tell goodnight every day before I go to bed, and I’ve begun to realize how much it hurts. I’ve also started worrying about what guys think of me here, I haven’t had to deal with crushes for over 3 years now, I really don’t like it that much after all.

But then today, in my U100 (University Seminar) class, my professor said in his devo today that everyone’s gonna feel that loneliness, it doesn’t matter when they’ll feel it, but they will. And they said if you “trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” it’ll work out. God knows us better than we know ourselves, he created us. And I know that, but lately I just haven’t felt it. My thoughts just keep running through my head over and over and I don’t know what to do to stop them.

So this verse kind of helped me, but I still don’t know what to do… I remember God and I know who He is and what He’s done for me, but I just don’t feel like I’m a Christian right now. Somebody wanna help a sister out??

So, my first day of college has come and gone. It was really easy, but tomorrow’s gonna be the fun day. (I have an 8 o’ clock tomorrow, whereas today I had a 9 o’ clock instead.)

The only bad thing that happened today was that I sat in the wrong classroom for my first class. But then someone girl came in and asked what class it was and I got up and left when they said she wasn’t in the right room. (Obviously, neither was I.)

My biggest class is my bible class, with Randy Harris. He’s pretty cool, but according to him if I do anything bad in his class I’m going to Hell. :P My smallest class would have to be my math class. I have Schweithale (Americanly pronounced Sweetall, Germanly pronounced Shveetawlee), she’s pretty cool and there are like 6 or 7 people from Garland/Richardon, haha. And we all went to different schools from the area.

Chapel was pretty cool, too, but I’ll make my final decision about Chapel tomorrow when it isn’t all done up for the Opening Ceremony…

I have a few people I know in my classes, so that’s nice, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens tomorrow. Sorry this post wasn’t very eventful, descriptive, or long, but I’m tired and I was just about to get in bed when I remembered I promised to post this for you guys. Toodles!

So today I slept in until 10:30 this morning, which was really nice, but I woke up not feelin’ too great. Then it was time for lunch at noon, so I got some lunch and then signed up for a few things at the Student Involvement Fair. Which was interesting because I learned a lot about some of the different clubs/organizations here at ACU.

After that I just chilled and talked to my Dad on the phone until it was time to go meet my group for dinner at 5. We ate at Sharky’s which a burrito place very similar to Freebird’s and other majorly aweomse burrito chains, haha. It was pretty good and the burritos are definitely too big for me to finish.

After dinner we came back to ACU for the Welcome Week Talent Show which was crazy long but was ridiculously awesome, my favorite act would have to be the guy that got up there and played “Rise and Shine”. Ya know, like the little kid song?? LOVED IT! :D

My group didn’t place in the Olympics thingie, kinda sad… =/ But it was still a lot of fun to do it. :] I got to sit with Erin, the female intern from the REYG this past summer, at the talent show and that was a lot of fun because I really missed her. After that Heather and I went to Jake’s, the male intern from the REYG this summer’s, house and chilled for a bit with his 2 roommates and some friends that came over. They got Taco Bell and then I ate all the stuff that they didn’t finish. Mmm!

Then we watched Family guy for an hour and got back to the dorm 30 minutes or so before curfew was over… There went my plan to go to bed early. Does anybody that attends ACU know the definition of sleep?? I mean, my goodness, what does a girl have to do to get a decent night’s sleep around here??

(PS) My church plans have changed, the girl that was supposed to give me a ride is out of gas and doesn’t wanna drive all the way to Highland so we’re going to University instead. I’m pretty upset about that because I was really looking forward to seeing Sarah Campbell. I guess I’ll have to go Wednesday… She just called me back and said she thinks she’s getting a really bad cold so we’re not going to church at all anymore… Maybe I can find someone else to take me to church because I think church is the only thing that’s gonna keep me sane this next week.

I’m extrememly tired today, but I promised I would keep everyone informed of what’s been going on at Welcome Week, so here we are. Tomorrow is the last day of Welcome Week 2008, but I’ll definitely let you know how my first day of school (as well as my Mom’s surgery) goes. Thanks again for all the prayers on both accounts.

So yesterday morning (since it’s now almost 2 AM) I woke up to play volleyball (yet again) and we got completely shut out. I don’t think I’m ever playing sports again in my life. I was already sore from the day before and playing again just made it worse. Then after that we had Moody Morning again and we got a $5 gift card to Rosa’s Tortilla Factory, mmm. Well, not really, I like it on some occasions, but not often. During Moody Morning we sang a lot, learned news songs, and it was a great one this morning, loved it!

Afterward we lunch with our U100 groups again, but today it was barbecue and a girl in my group, who is such an amazing person, is a vegeterian and she saw a girl that had food from the Bean and the girl said a lady had let her go in and get some food, but when my friend went and asked, she was rudely turned away. So then we went to the campus store, got her brother’s card thingie for school, and bought some food from the food court. Then we has group time in which we planned for the Olympics!!! Which was a lot of fun, but I’m not to that part yet… After that we had some down time and then it was dinner time, in which the same thing happened as dinner except a lot of people weren’t hungry and didn’t like the food that was provided.

After that, we had the group Olympics, first we had this crazy relay race where the first 10 teams to finish would get points toward winning. The second part of the point system was our group flag and our’s was really good, I think. The third part was a photo scavenger hunt where we had to take pics of the whole group (except the person taking the pics) in front of places on campus that we had to figure out from a list of clues.

In the relay race we had 4 zones, the first zone had 3 people playing leap frog to the next zone, the second zone had 2 people doing the crab walk after being tagged by the first zoners, the third zone was a three-legged race with 2 people after being tagged by the second zoners, then the fourth zone was a wheelbarrow run with 2 people. then you had to do that back to the other side, then back to the end of the first round of the race, THEN 1 person from the group had to sprint with the group flag to the other side of the field again. Our team is pretty sure we were in the top 10 groups somewhere…

After that we RAN to all of the places to take the pics for the photo scavenger hunt, it was so exhuasting becuase not only was it hot, but my knee hurt quite a bit, my shoelaces were untied the whole time, and I was already sore from playing volleyball, as I mentioned before multiple times. But we finished 10 minutes early and for every minute you finished before the time limit, you got an extra point. :D We don’t find out which team wins until the Talent Show tonight at 7, which I’m extremely excited for!

Then after that we had a bit of downtime before Friday Frenzy (which I didn’t go to, I’ll explain in a bit), so I took a nice shower and got all prettied up to go to a concert at a local, downtown coffee shop that was $5 cover price, but was free for any ACU freshmen that brought their Welcome Week neck keychain thingies… We got there a bit late, so I dunno the name of the gorup we actually watched, but it was two guys that did some awesome instrumental music. At one point, the guy playing chello picked up an acoustic guitar and started using his bow on the guitar! How cool is that??

So, during the break between bands, we left to get out of the hot coffee shop and ended up not going back, but the three or four songs we heard were incredible. :] After that we went to Whataburger and chilled for a bit. And then I finally got back here.

Like I said, I’m tired, sore, and a little bit more… I hope y’all had wonderful Fridays and that your weekends go well. I’m so excited for classes to start, Monday needs to get here already, haha. :P It’s seriously time to go to bed now, haha. Love you all and miss you dearly. (As always.) Toodles!
